At Krav Maga Universal we understand that self defense and fighting are two totally different situations. Simply stated self defense happens as a surprise in a multitude of situations and where a person usually finds themselves at a disadvantage. When fighting, a person usually knows that they are now in a physical confrontation with one or more persons. With Krav Maga Universal training, we develop our practitioners to be highly effective in both of these areas.

From the Ring to the Street

Krav Maga Universal teaches our students the most effective form of stand up fighting, Muay Thai Kickboxing. Muay Thai or Thai boxing is the cultural martial art of Thailand. The origin of Muay Thai dates back several hundred years and was essentially developed as a form of close-combat that used the entire body (punches, kicks, elbows, knees, and head) as a weapon.

KMU fight training instructs our students in the fighting strategies of kickboxing and how these strategic related to actual street confrontations in four simple levels of training. Our kickboxing training is safe, fun, and great for getting our students fit for fighting, self-defense and life.

While Krav Maga stresses staying off the ground at all costs, it accepts that you may eventually have no choice but to fight there. Students are taught the best techniques of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts so they are effective when fighting while on the ground. Techniques include how to throw certain kicks while on the ground, arm bars, triangle choke, guillotines, how to defend against punches while mounted, chokes, headlocks, what to do if their wrists are pinned and how to execute effective ground strikes to their opponent.

Even with the effectiveness of KMU’s ground fighting techniques, our emphasis on the ground is always survival, defend, attacked, get to our feet, and escape the encounter.
